It was a first for Commercial Carpets of America (CCA): Creating a "happy tiger" logo for a new floor. Arlington Public School system's K.W.Barrett School wanted to promote school spirit by featuring the school mascot, a tiger, in their new cafeteria/multi-purpose room floor. The hard part was to come up with just the right image for the tiger and select just the right flooring material to replace old strip wood.

CCA's Bob Moore suggested Forbo linoleum "due to the school's need for a long-lasting, durable product." He worked with Elizabeth Turner of Forbo and Dave Surbeck of Surbeck Waterjet Systems to come up with a design that would embody the "spirit of the Barrett School Tiger."
After the design was approved, Forbo Marmoleum sheet linoleum was sent to Surbeck Systems for fabrication. The design was shipped in to CCA for installation. Although the existing floor was old strip wood floor and had been removed, CCA had to resurface the floor with Ardex K-15 cementitious underlayment. Then CCA's Shin Kim, a Forbo Master Mechanic, installed the floor and assembled the "jigsaw puzzle."
According to Theresa Bratt, Principal, "Our design allowed for high functionality so as to manage various school programs. We love our new floor and especially the tiger." One 11 year-old student asked about why the tiger wasn't yellow, rather than white: "Because white tigers are rare and something special," she was told. We couldn't agree more! One more example of CCA's commitment of "Making Your Vision a Reality."
